avatar-icon
Big slip up...nearly 6 months smokefree, fell off wagon with a couple, then it wound up to 15 a day in no time. So here I am again day 3.

Drum roll please

avatar-icon
Week to the Hundy Club. Looking forward to this milestone. Ghastly time at work at the moment and got a nasty craving today, haven't had any of note so far. Have some of those incy bincy patches just in case...slapped one on for effect more than anything.

Still can't get over that I am a non smoker, so immensely proud but its hard to think of when I did even though I was a slave to them for 23 years.

Weird habit..

On that countdown to the Hundy

avatar-icon
This time in two weeks I will be on my Hundy. I am so excited can't wait. I have put away $10 for every day I haven't smoked. Spent $500 at daughters tournament and have built another $360.00. Rules are that money is not to be spent on bills or reducing debt (its hard because I am a banker!) but on cool fun stuff!
Woohoo, will drop a blog on the big day. Will mean heaps because this is about my 20th quit and the longest and strongest I have been.

3 months

I am so glad I am smokefree. Have given up worrying about how "easy" it has been this time. I have the "bat" ready if the nasty ND comes to the party uninvited. I guess it is just time after years. My Mum is struggling desperately to quit, forcibly after a COPD diagnosis. She is in tears most of the time I talk to her and that is not like her at all but she has been battling the worst flus and chest infections for the last months. I know it is smoking related, years of 20-40 a day is going to do that. Telling her that is not going to help but she is still smoking the odd one. I guess this is better than 20 a day. I am trying to keep her positive about how much my own breathing and lung function has improved but she sees this as a "told you so", can't win. Keep trying, gently and in a supporting way. Sorry for the ramble. Love to my Q Family x

Not long now

avatar-icon
It has just occurred to me, it is less than a month until I join the Hundy Club, the first big milestone. I posted on my Facebook page when I was 10 weeks smokefree (nice round number right?)and I got bombarded with likes and comments, some of them from my smoking compadres.
That was cool....one of the likes was from my daughters awesome netball coach. She is a very heavy smoker and you can tell in her breathing etc. Who knows...might have planted a seed?

Bad news

avatar-icon
I have recently been advised that my beloved mother has COPD...smoking related undoubtedly and I am not surprised in the slightest. I am terrified to go online and do research around this as I think it may just be the last straw at the moment. I know one thing though, it will only strengthen my resolve in my quit and as I approach 10 weeks tomorrow I know I have never felt better. I think I will need every ounce of energy to help Mum through this. She has been smoke free for two days and after 50 years of an extremely heavy habit this is huge for her. Please anyone with any advice ...speak up. It would be better hearing it in this forum with people I trust. Thanks in advance.
