SMASHED IT

avatar-icon

132 smokefree days.
I can't believe how free I feel from my smoking.
A woman that smoked entirely too much through out her life.
I'll be out the front welcoming the people on to our marae. Nek minit disappear around the back to puff up a storm. Didn't drink much alcohol but made up for it by smoking like a continuous chimney during social gatherings.
Me and the workmates would pop outside for a quick ciggy...nek minit 3 smokes later omg.. It was a continuous bloody cycle.
Until 132 days ago....I've been smashing it every hour every day since Valentines Day.
My stats reckon I've saved $1,678 since then....and I'm about to collect on that ;o) my darling is whipping me away this Friday for a 10 day holiday over Brizzy and the GC .

If they know they will support you

Was going to the shop, so I got asked to buy some smokes for my mate.
Our local dairy owner knows I'd given up because I was a regular buyer before. I'd walk in and she'd head straight to my brand.
Should of seen the look of disappointment when I asked for smokes.
Then she realized it wasn't my old brand I was asking for.

Me: "yup Jazz, it's not for me it's for my workmate."
A big ray of sunshine radiated from her genuine smile.
Yeah matey thats how I feel everyday now๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

*Note: I let everyone know that I was quitting from day one. Announced it on my FB pg. Told all my friends, whanau, work colleagues and even my local shop keepers. One of my friends reckoned I should of just kept quiet in case I failed and I'd feel shamed....Hell NO, if I fail I'd have all these wonderful people that are rooting for me to succeed kick my ass back in there. It's ok Quit whanau to trip up, but it's only a failure if you quit trying. Brush yourself off and start again.
NOPE

OH yes... apparently my eyes say too much hahaha. Well I can't help but look at you all hoha when you hold up our road trip by having a smoke at every mimi stop. And I can't hide the happiness in my eyes when you guys are freezing outside of the car.....While I'm nice and toasty warm LMAO.
(I was teasing my sisters HARD from the car hahaha)
Any hu I'm doing well with no cravings. Still chewing sugar free gum though.
And my figure has gone from Beyonce to Telly tubby so I need to exercise a whole lot more....because this maori loves her kai ..hehe

You can do it

avatar-icon

121 days ago ....I was sick in hospital and went down stairs to the chemist to buy a hairbrush. The scarecrow look just wasn't working for me, on my ward lol.
While downstairs I saw patients attached to drips on stands, monitors, even 1 in their hospital bed outside the entrance doors ...smoking. Sick half dead looking people....gahhhhhhd dam.
That moment was when I started my quit. I wasn't craving before I saw that. I was just happy to stay up in my ward and forget about smoking...and just concentrate on bettering my health so I could go home. But when I saw the state of everyone out there smoking with speakers blasting " This is a smokefree hospital blah blah blah...And every one just blatantly ignoring it.
That repulsed me, made me hoha, made me ashamed and made me very sad..because the majority out there were my people :(
Tonight I picked up my dad from the hospital after an overnight stay.
It was dark and pissing down and still had heaps of patients outside the entrance doors coughing and spluttering through their almighty smoke.
Sad so sad ...
I can't help them. But I can help myself , my whanau and friends when they ask.

My Warriors & All Blacks won last night. And it was my mates birthday. So we partied like a rockstar. @Blondene...I stuck to the hard stuff. Water on the rocks lol.....My friends still respectfully try and smoke away from me. But I'm all good. I can do me...even with all their kaka in the air. One of my male friends (my bro) goes sis I'm down to 2 cigarettes a day but I need 5 for when I drink. I'm absolutely proud of him. He was a 2 pck of 20's a DAY...OMG...this is life changing for my bro. And then he made me cry by saying " It was you sis, you're kicking this smoking, no sweat...you make us all want to give up" I had actual tears in my eyes and my poor bro got told off from our friends hehehe....I had to tell them all they were happy tears.๐Ÿ˜ค
And like I've said before I don't preach the auahi kore talk I just answer their questions when they want to talk ......and pump out those positive vibes.

My nephew who I haven't seen for a while and always use to scab smokes off me. Asked for one yesterday when he visited. So PROUD to say "sorry bub I don't smoke no more". (Yessss *Fist pump)
He went WOW !!! aunty ...you've always had smokes on you. You never ran out.
See that's another reason for me to give up. Don't want my whanau to remember me for crap like that.
113 days auahi kore...and growing stronger against the nicodemon.
Making big savings from being smokefree but I should of invested that into shares at Wrigleys ....with all the gum I chew lol.

Kia ora Quit whanau.
On a high with my quit, I've got my 2 sisters visiting for a little while from Aussie & Tauranga. Both are smokers. And they can't believe that I've given up. I probably was the one that gave them their first cigarette too, back when we were teenagers........aue a very long time ago. There's 3 of us. I'm the eldest. But the other day my local shopkeeper thought the middle sister was the mother of me and the youngest sister LMAO...I told the middle sis, thats cos you smoke like a chimney ow and it's aged you drastically. Give it up egg.
I must say I'm feeling and looking good with my smokefree glow ๐Ÿ˜Š
Wish my sisters would jump on my waka....ma te wa ( all in good time)
Keep warm this winter.
Don't freeze your ass in the cold for a smoke.

Its too cold to smoke people

avatar-icon

I was sitting in my kitchen with my hot cup of tea early this morning. Looking out the window at my dumb ass sister freezing out on the veranda sporadically puffing on her cigarette. Gee give it up egg.
I don't preach the good life of smokefree, but if they ask I share my thoughts and what I've done. I'm looking after myself first. Feeling on top of it, because the cravings have gone....it's like it's a distant memory. Not saying it will stay like this from now on. But I carrying on with life and living it without the nicodemon.
Keep warm everyone and have a good day.

I'm back :)

avatar-icon

Hi Quit whanau, I'm back at day 102.
Been away for the pass month looking after my queen, our mum. (She's good now) I did 80 days cold turkey then picked up the vape for 2mins when I thought we were gonna lose her.
2 dumb minutes of disappointment & weakness where I pretty much choked and coughed cos I was totally over that crap in my lungs.
I've been 22 days stronger after that dumb ass moment.
And the anger has finally subsided lol that I'm happy to carry on with my quit ....and pump those positive vibes out there to my friends and whanau.
