BACK TO THE BEGINNING

avatar-icon

Ok I have copied and pasted my last blog as a non smoker below... I had succeeded!!!
BUT then I thought it was OK to have an occasional drag from a friends smoke...then a smoke whilst drinking ...then a couple...then bought a packet as a treat for a weekend...and you can image what came after that.... Yes smoking full on again - back to where I was prior!!
It has been about a year now of my full time smoking and I am now on day 6 non smoking. When I gave up last time, they were $16 per packet - now $32 per packet. What a waste of all that money! I am soooo disappointed in myself! However I have to do this again, so here I am and I remember how hard it was the last times, and YIP it is just as hard this time!!!!

MY LAST POST AS A NON SMOKER: I WILL READ THIS EVERY DAY NOW!
Smokefree days: 1,144
Total savings: $14,643

Wow over 3 years now!
So very happy - run 2 x half marathons now and exercise has become part of my life.
The weight gain is still apparent however the health benefits outweigh that.

My skin is just amazing now - so different to what it was being a heavy smoker.
When I get a cold it does not go to my chest like it use to.
My taste and smell is so much better .
My clothes and hair does not stink. I have a close friend that still smokes and by god she smells.

I am off to USA for a month - would have never been able to do this if I was still a smoker. When I gave up a packet was $16.00 - I do remember when they were under $1.00 and I had said I would give up when they went over $1.00 - wish I had given up all those years ago ....

Its hard to give up but keep at it as it is so so worth it...

Smokefree days: 365 days
Cigarettes NOT smoked: 5840

MADE IT!! Been the hardest thing I have done! The first 3 weeks I wanted to kill people....
The first 3 months I found it hard to socialise.
There were many hard times - especially when wine was involved and being around smokers...
The hardest time was just 3 months ago when I fell and badly dislocated my shoulder...the result was I lost my contract job...being injured and unemployed has been the biggest test for me...I wanted to smoke to take away the pain/boredom/worthlessness and the hate I felt towards the boss who after 7 years dismissed me like a piece of rubbish...
Sorry my friends on here...my lack of support. ...I have been reading your posts some days but the black dog kept me away....
Onwards and upwards...job hunting and just started back running again now that I'm healing...

HALF MARATHON IN 5 DAYS with my new improved lungs

avatar-icon
Well I have got this far....and has been a struggle to say the least.
I gave up smoking 140 days ago, mostly for my daughter. I want to see her grow up, get married and have children. At 47years old and a smoker since I was a young teenager, I was not sure if my days were numbered?
My bucket list included running a half marathon, and to me my smoking lungs would not allow this....a fortnight ago I ran 18kms and I now feel ready to do this Half Marathon and succeed!
I Fly off to Queenstown on Friday for the big Run...will update you on my return - thinking I might do a bungy jump also....

I am proud to say that I have inspired a fellow worker to give up...he is on day one today!!

Gota get back to work...happy breathing all..
