Hmmm, last time I put "Quiet day" in a post title I was coming down with that damnable energy sapping virus I hope I've finally shaken.

I've spent today copying my old postings off here and into my (largely abandonned) public blog. I'm going to re-post them there in sequence, a few a day until they catch up with here.

I'm not planning on stopping blogging here, but a side effect of blogging here is that I've got back into the habit of blogging. The quit-line house rules say that the blogging space here is for posts that primarily discuss our progress with quitting and as I progress with being an ex-smoker and prospective non-smoker the non-smoking side of what I do becomes relatively less important while the other aspects of my life become relatively more important to me.

As with all of us, there will be a time in the future when my blogging ceases to be a good fit for quit-line. When that will be I have no way of saying. Last time I was a non-smoker, blogging hadn't been invented.

Bruce PSPSP here. I have been following your blogs and comments with interest. I used these blogs not only to discuss my progress with not smoking, but also (to misquote Peter Cooke and Dudley Moore) to help me. The act of blogging was an important part of my quit. And the whole Rothy thing was fun. Because I have this view-life is fun and being a non smoker is even more fun.

There does come a time, as you correctly point out, when we have to move on. But the thing with this site is that while we may move on, it never leaves you. I check it out regularly and am always impressed and encouraged to see how many people, like you, are here helping and supporting.

Cheers and good to see your stats.

@PokuruGirl Thanks. Don't worry I don't intend leaving here soon, it's just that I know it's inevitible. I unabashadly admit that I am here blogging for my own benefit regarding giving up. I may not say it in as many words in my own blog postings, but have mentioned it in comments on other people's blogs from time-to-time.

Forgive my ignorance byt what does PSPPSP mean? Rothy's a bit scary http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Rothy I hope there's some other meaning.

PG is my wife. We gave up together . Rothy is the name of a couple of books I wrote with contributions from members here. I posted free copies out to anyone who wanted them.

Rothy is about a society where smoking is compulsory. I have a few copies left if you want one. The name is an abbreviation of a well known brand.

Thanks for the kind offer PSPPSP, but I'm not much of a book reader these days. I tend to dip in and out too much and get distracted. Lets' call it Wikipedia syndrome.

The Rothy books are quite short Bruce. I found them witty and insightful with blogger's contributions cleverly entwined into the story. I got many giggles from them. Mmm, I wonder if Quitline has read them.

I enjoy your blogs too, Bruce and long may they continue. Well done on your 1 month and 5 days :)

I too look forward to seeing more of your blogs, Bruce. I think Quitline is very tolerant of us wandering off topic sometimes. After all quitting encompasses so much more than just not smoking.

What's your public blog about then, Bruce?

It's great that you can see the time when the need for blogging here will end.

I don't spend so much time here now. Partly that's because my computer is old and very slow and I run out of time. I used to comment on every single blog, but now I lurk more than comment!

Anyway, congratulations on your quit success ☺

Do you play Go/baduk/wei chi? A lot of programmers and IT people do. If you play Go perhaps we could have a game sometime. My rank is about 3-5 kyu

Hi Maanu. It's at http://kiore.blogspot.co.nz/ but it was pretty dead for a very long time before I started copying my posts from here onto it.

@Saffron, Hollie. It's sub-titled "My journey, an occasional diary"

I've actually copied all the posts from here to there but as "drafts", and am posting them in-order, a few each day. Eventually they will catch up, but you've seen them all here.
